Director Sanjay Gupta, who has directed films like Jazbaa, Kaabil, Shootout at Wadala, is now working on a Rakshak Superhero Movie after learning from successful films made on comics like Marvel and DC. For this, he has chosen the series of Indian graphic novel ‘Rakshak’ published by Yali Dream Creations. He has bought all the rights to this book, and soon he is going to convert it into live action movie.
The filmmaker told, ‘I met Shamik Dasgupta, the author of’ Rakshak ‘, while I was working on another project. At that time, he had shared all the books with me but I had forgotten about it due to other prior projects. But recently, when Shamik came on the set of my upcoming film ‘Mumbai Saga’, there was John (Abraham), who reminded me of this, and also told that Rakshak Superhero Movie has lot’s of potential.
When I read it, its main character, Supervillain and its story, I got excited. It will be India’s first film based on a graphic novel / comic book. ‘After six months of conversation with Shamik and the book’s publisher Asvin Srivatsangam, I decided to make it into live action Rakshak Superhero Movie and acquired the rights. Says Gupta, “I will direct it, but I am currently working on my film Mumbai Saga”.
