Amitabh Bachchan as Supremo

Amitabh Bachchan, quite possibly the greatest actor in the history of Indian cinema, has loads of accolades to his credit. Amitabh Bachchan as Supremo used to have a comic book dedicated to him. From having ruling the Bollywood industry for several decades, to hosting one of the most popular reality shows in India, KBC, Mr. Bachhchan has done it all. But there another thing which the masses don’t have any idea about, when it comes to remembering his contributions to our country.

Yes folks, years before we saw Shaktimaan disposing off criminal elements in Diamond and Raj comics, there was a comic book which depicted Mr. Bachchan as a full-fledged superhero!

In the 80s, a comic book surfaced which starred a superhero named Supremo, an alter ego of the famous actor. Mr. Bachchan, fully aware of the positive impact that the comics could have on the fans all around the country, was quick to give his approval for the comic book. Amitabh Bachchan as Supremo series had an impressive two year run. The stories in the comic used to end with a message by Amitabh himself, to his fans, just like in the late 90s, we were used to learning “Choti choti magar moti baatein” from our favorite superhero, Shaktimaan.

Amitabh Bachchan as Supremo wears a costume along with a Chakra pendant, and hides his true identity with the aid of large glasses, which look a lot like the ones used by welders in factories. He loves eating peanuts and listening to music, and always carries a Walkman with him in his daily adventures. We are used to seeing popular superheroes having sidekicks like Batman and Robin. The same was true for Supremo as he had a couple sidekicks named Vijay and Supremo who were named after two of his famous movie names.
